Mrs. Sierra Bryant is our Preschool teacher!
Mrs. Sierra graduated from Middlesex High School in 2011 before moving to Arizona where she worked as a lead teacher and director designee at Head Heart Hands Preschool, a full inclusive school in Flagstaff, AZ. Mrs. Sierra also has experience as a respite care provider for children and adults with special needs. She provided respite and habilitation services through the nonprofit organization Inspire based in Flagstaff, AZ and privately for DDD children in the Arizona foster care system. Prior to these endeavors, Mrs. Sierra spent 4 summers working as a camp counselor at James City 4-H for both Middlesex County and James City County districts.
Mrs. Sierra recently completed her Bachelor's Degree in Education Administration. Her focus has been on Early Childhood Education, and those with Special Needs.
Mrs. Sierra’s diverse background and experience with individuals who possess special needs arms her with a wealth of understanding of social/emotional development and the skills needed to connect with young children on their level. Mrs. Sierra’s classroom is a healthy and responsive environment where the needs of her students are supported with compassion. Mrs. Sierra does not punish misbehavior but works with her students to find the source of the conflict and develop healthy resolutions to shape her preschoolers into Pre-K ready students.
The preschoolers in Mrs. Sierra’s class learn through a great deal of kinesthetic activities. Her students build skills in language, social/emotional regulation, mathematics, science, and fine/gross motor development through art, music, and hands-on exploration. Mrs. Sierra’s daily routines consist of a balance of teacher-led activities and child-led activities, as well as uninterrupted play and centers.
We are thrilled to have Sierra as part of our Horizons Unlimited family!
