The Pre-K Kids are an awesome bunch!  This is where the nitty gritty work of preschool hits high gear!  The Pre-K class is led by Ms. Susan Rose, who is also the  Program Director for Horizons Unlimited.  Ms. Susan not only builds upon the lessons the children have been learning from the Nursery on up, but she also begins to focus heavily on academic and social skills necessary for a successful entry into Kindergarten.  

Ms. Susan joined the Horizons family in May of 2011.  She was hired here as an aide, but almost immediately became the Lead Teacher in the 2's & 3's Class.  Ms. Susan remained with that age group until taking over the Pre-K Class in September of 2013.  On June 13, 2014 Ms. Susan was also promoted to Assistant Program Director.  Susan holds an Associate of Science Degree in Education, an Associate of Arts Degree in Libral Arts, and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration - with a concentraion in Economics and Finance.  Ms. Susan has also completed numerous additional hours of Child Development Training since joining our team.  

The children in Ms. Susan's class receive a very hands on, practical education in a loving and structured environment.  The basics are covered such as ABC's, 123's, colors, shapes, etc., with additional material introduced within multiple content areas.  The class learns social studies, science, math, social skills, self-care, independence, and life building lessons while in Ms. Susan's care.  The Dino Kids also enjoy a weekly visit from the Urbanna Public Library.  The PreK class utilizes the Streamin3 Curriculum developed by the state, which is also used in the Virginia Preschool Initiative programs. 

Some of the favorite activities in this class are coloring, puzzles, and the lego kits that foster imaginary play.
